| I don't know what that trail across Mike's hand is, but if it's blood, it's blue. (Which I suppose makes a certain sort of sense, since he comes from a blue-blood family. But maybe more importantly, squid blood is blue.) |

| Actually, we know the rest of Mike's blood isn't blue, so there's something odd there... |

Hm. Perhaps Mike is continuing to mutate?
April may be more surprised by the blue blood than by the guilt trip (though Mike has the patented sad-puppy-eyes look down pat in the second panel). |

Wow. Birthdays must be very serious busyness from April’s P.O.V..
Or perhaps Mike unwittingly triggered some subliminal conditioning…
EDIT: I just realized; Unlike bones or organs or other bodily stuff that stays put, Blood circulates everywhere. Therefore, if the blood in Mike's tentacle is blue, than so is EVERY DROP OF BLOOD IN HIS BODY!!!

Holy Crap, you're right! Maybe this sanguine change has something to do with Mike's death?
I can't remember; when was the last time we saw Mike bleed?
(And would the "Afterlife" segment count?) |

Yes, perhaps there was a sudden change in Mike's blood, either when he returned to the mortal world, or due to the time spent in the Dundun life support system.
Mike's blood was red not only at the time of the stabbing, but also when he was fighting demons in Limbo. |

Mike is toxic!
Many crustaceans and cephalopods use hemocyanin (copper-based) instead of hemoglobin (iron-based) as oxygen-carrying proteins, as it works better in cold low-oxygen environments (compared to hemoglobin).
Interesting... Mike must use both, otherwise his skin would appear blue/green-tinted all over. It's conceivably possible, as hemoglobin is small, and must be carried in cells (i.e. red blood cells), whereas hemocyanin molecules are large enough to float freely in the bloodstream without causing damage. Perhaps Mike's "cold-storage" treatment affected his blood somehow? Note the red and blue tubes.
Edit: an interesting thought just occurred... Marsha mutated after being bit by the batatos. I wonder if April might develop a mutation as a result of ingesting Mike's blood? _________________ "Dexam & April" Avatar by Maritza Campos.

If Mike's blood was copper based like said crustaceans, wouldn't he be a green blooded hobgoblin like Spock?
Yeah, Mike + puppy dog eyes = scary... I'd say scary enough to make someone faint. |

Those tubes look an awful lot like little chains. But if they are tubes, then wouldn't they be for the cooling system of the cryogenic unit? |

Possibly - at the time, I assumed blue for cryogenic coolant, red for blood/nutrients/waste/whatever. But only the Goddess knows how it actually works. _________________ "Dexam & April" Avatar by Maritza Campos.

So could this mean that the tentacle is still linked to it's original body somehow...
Didn't Roger have an Alien theory?

I wonder if April might develop a mutation as a result of ingesting Mike's blood? | That's what I was thinking - that Mike's tentacle was poisonous in some manner. Now, it looks like it's from the tentacle, but what if it's just from eating Marsha's cooking?
Interesting theory there regarding an April-mutation, although her picking up Mike's mutation would be a bit repititious. Hrrmn...anything else squid-related she could pick up? It's her mouth that was the primary point of contact, so maybe she'll develop the ability to spray ink?
It does seem here, though, that if April does come close to dying from this, that the scales may be close(r) to even... |
