Heh, I'm the first in the spec thread. For the first and probably only time!
Ohh, Mike. Note how 'get a doctor?' is not one of the options that floats through his colossally selfish a$$-covering brain _________________ 'Great stupidy stupidness: The Irish Blasphemy Laws'

| Yeah, the only thing he's thinking about is how to stay on Marsha's good side. He should know by now from previous experience that that's well-nigh impossible, so he should just do the kind thing and help April up. Besides, April could potentially be used as a human shield. Just let Marsha get the truth out of her... |

See, Mike. This sort of thing is what gets you into trouble in the first place...
At least check for situation updates while you're in damage control mode! |

Well, that's vice-presidential reactions . . .

Heh, initially I added Marsha to the list, but I thought Margaret would be the one most likely to take immediate and assertive action.
I wonder what webcartooning lesson this strip will illustrate. Maybe "Wall-of-Text"? Though as Bill Watterson said, "Great writing will save boring artwork better than great drawings will save boring ideas". |

The first thing I would have done is check for a pulse.
Seriously, a corpse is a hell of a lot more awkward than a simple miscommunication, especially after it's discovered that you took great pains to distance yourself from it instead of trying to help.
Too be fair, I assume Mike has had to deal with this situation far more often than an ordinary guy. (He did grow up with Hazel Green after all.)
It actually worries me how easily Mike takes random fainting in stride. He must have dealt with similer circumstances a crapload of times in order to be so rational about it. |

| That was rational? Looked more like Mike's style of panic mode to me... "How can I make sure I don't take the blame!" |

Well, Mike was a lot more analytical about it than an average guy. Not that I would know the typical reaction to random-fainting.
I assume an average Joe would either stand there in stupefied disbelief, or go OHCRAPOHCRAPOHCRAPOHCRAP!!!!
Mike, in comparison, takes the time to consider how to bend the situation to his advantage, in a manner eerily similar to a mobster considering the best way to hide a body. |

He instinctively goes into "how do I get out of trouble for this" so he can proceed, well, getting out of trouble ASAP if that's what's called for.
It's possible that, without being prompted, Mike's conscious would have kicked back into gear and started doing something more sensible... possibly involving running back from whatever damage-avoidance strategy he went into.
Anyway... part of the reason why I think he's on shock is that what he's thinking sounds very stream-of-consciousness-y. He's not really rationally thinking this through, it's just that this is a reflex reaction for him. |

| "On the OTHER tentacle" ... shouldn't that simply be "On the TENTACLE"? |

Well, it's just a play on the phrase "on the other hand", except replacing 'hand' with 'tentacle', since Mike has one of each.
...Not that I think Mike grew another tentacle somewhere on his body... |

You might not, but there's at least one person from Spring Break who believes he did... | Stardrake wrote: | | That was rational? Looked more like Mike's style of panic mode to me... "How can I make sure I don't take the blame!" | It's like he's already in the workforce... |

It seems April can't see blood now without passing out -it's unclear to me if unconsciousness it's only triggered by Mike's blood, by any blood she drew herself, or just by the simple sight of blood.
This fainting business could also be just a smokescreen to get Mike off her case, but I find it more interesting to think that, for all their tongue-in-cheekness, CRFH can and do have psycological scars from their encounters with demons, evil underground organizations and jilted relationships _________________ Xochitica Ye Ihuan Cuicatica

Which of course leads to the question: is it natural, because April stabbed Mike, or something La Dragonne did, because April stabbed Mike.

Good point . . . They'd likely either become blase' about it (Can you imagine a blase' jaded Dave? Would the universe allow it?) or scarred.
Of course, becoming blase' can be regarded as a form of scarring . . .

Let's face it: Mike has been prime management material from the first story arc. _________________ "Dexam & April" Avatar by Maritza Campos.

Let's face it: Mike has been prime management material from the first story arc. | Except he's actually got some competence. |
