Hmm. That really is rather thoughtful of Blue. Bet it's going to blow up in her face...
At the very least, she should ask Dave why he thinks she is pregnant... |

No bet.
Plus, I think Blue's got it in her head that Dave thinks it's April that's pregnant, so asking Dave why he thinks she's pregnant may not be a thought that strikes her mind. _________________ Current SAN: 24

It's actually quite possible that neither of the birthday boys will show up for the party. Dave thinks Blue wants him to get lost, and Mike may well be occupied with spying on the Dorky Duo as they light their dark candles.
Yeah, don't think there will be much of a party tonight. And Blue may indeed find herself in (yet more) drama sooner than she expected to.
Marsha in the second panel looks like she's striking rather a sexy pose. |

So, it seems Marsha didn't noticed April's conditioning yet. I guess she just assumed that "April's just been weird again". It's a popular opinion, and sadly, there's no lack of evidence to sustain it.
And about what Blue and Marsha said about not giving April the satisfacton of ruining the party, I have to wonder why on Earth would April even want to attend in the first place. True, Marsha pointed out that Dave may want her there, and maybe Roger still considers April a (messed up) friend, but I guess that's about it (I have no idea about how Margaret feels about miss Sommers). I suppose Paul could have been a friendly face at that party, but since Diana and Roger are no longer an item, I guess Diana and her brother are not invited (hope I'm wrong).
If I were April, I would seriously consider just looking for Dave, singing Happy Birthday to him in private, give him his present (if any) and pretty much be done with it. _________________ Xochitica Ye Ihuan Cuicatica

1st thought
If my understanding of storytelling is up to snuff, then Blue and Marsha's decision to not ask the boys until tomorrow will be significant in some way. (otherwise it wouldn't have been mentioned.) What could possibly result from not asking a question 12 hours earlier?
I'm starting to worry about what that answer will be.
2nd thought
Marsha may not have "completely missed" the possibility of mind conditioning; Maybe she's unwilling to jump to conclusions, as making assumptions in the past has led to a fair amount of trouble.
3rd thought
Marsha may be willing to go along with Blue's "don't ask them" plan because she's desperate to avoid as much drama as possible. (Something the Goddess herself has pointed out.) Nevertheless, poor communication is the grandaddy of Drama everywhere, and that decision will probably end in painful irony. _________________ Choosing between right and wrong sounds easy... until you realize that the guy with the biggest army is always "right".
The real problem with this is that there is always a bigger army. |

If they keep that way the party may still exists, but with everyone too afraid to do any question, or even to talk. A silent awkward party indeed. |

After her confrontation with Blue, however, you're probably right...if she has a choice. If her current abode is also the venue, she may not. _________________ Current SAN: 24

Personally, my gut feeling is that they (and the tickets to go to the spa in the first place) are going to turn out to be connected to Hazel somehow. _________________ Current SAN: 24

| Chekhov's Gun doesn't always fire. Potential plot points can (and do) get abandoned sometimes. An example of this in another comic (Gunnerkrigg Court) is the picture frames with the footprints in them. The author had at one time intended this to be part of a future plot point, which he eventually cut from the story. |

Hey, that could mean Marsha's parents may have got her that spice grinder she always wanted, after all! | It wouldn't be the first time in CRFH that a gift that was supposedly from one person turned out to be from another. Do we know if Marsha actually confirmed that it came from her parents, or did she take it at face value? Might there be some time in the future (or in Missing In Action) where Marsha mentions it to her parents and they say "what? We sent you a ... - what happened to it?"
Plus, it could always turn out that next time one of the roomies visits the video store, there's another added to the bundle... _________________ Current SAN: 24

We've had a lot of vidoe stores closing in this area.

Marsha said the present came from her parents, but we don't know how closely she examined the package and card, or if she thanked her parents for the gift later on. |

Typo! "And maybe we'll find tonight anyway." should probably read "And maybe we'll find out tonight anyway.". _________________

Mari-Goddess has been very consistent in keeping this a piece of the period when it originated...it's not in an 'eternal now', it's in an 'eternal then' that keeps getting further away because the start date is always the same!

Not entirely true, Chrysicat. For example, Louie and Mike are sporting iPods, which didn't come out until 2001. And Anna Nicole Smith was inserted as a background reference shortly after her death in 2007.
There are other examples of current events being referenced in CRFH as well, I just can't think of them right now. |
